How this number is made

An allocation is a set of weights. This page turns the weights into dollars so a rebalance has a target, not a vibe. If the three percents do not add to 100, the leftover is unallocated and the page says so. It does not tell you which mix is right.

  1. The percents are targets, not what you hold today. The rebalance page moves two holdings you already have.
  2. Cash can be zero.

Formula

Dollars = portfolio × percent. Unallocated = portfolio minus the three slices.

Worked example

With the figures already in the form, in stocks is $126,000.

Questions

What if I have more than three buckets?

Fold the extras into the closest one, or leave them in the gap, which shows up as unallocated.

Does this include the house?

Only if you included it in the portfolio. Most allocation talks are about the invested money.
